If you have a garden which is bursting with color from plants and flowers, perhaps you do not need to add so much color with your garden accessories, but for those of us who are not so green fingered, outdoor patio rugs can perform a great service.
These rugs come in every color under the rainbow in solid shades and patterns, so there is one suitable for every garden and they help make your patio a focal point of the area outside your home. This is especially effective if you take pains to coordinate your rug with your garden furniture and other accessories. Here are a few examples of garden color schemes you can create with outdoor area rugs at their heart.
One color scheme might be using black wicker garden furniture, black and white floral patio cushions and a black shag style outdoor rug. This creates a contemporary color scheme to go with a modern home. You might complete the look with large architectural plants in zinc covered pots.
Another color scheme with more subtle coloring would be right at home in an English country style garden. In this scheme a pale rug with a subtle floral pattern could be paired with pastel colored garden furniture and cushions. Although the look seems very delicate, if proper outdoor fabrics and accessories are used it should stand up well to the rigors of a garden environment. You could also have a fall color scheme with rich colored teak garden furniture, green patio cushions and a rug containing the colors of brown, rust, orange and a similar green to that found in the cushions. Terracotta pots planted with dark yellow, dark red and orange colored flowers are great with this look.
Finally, for a tropical poolside patio, team white garden furniture with brightly colored patio cushions in shades of turquoise, hot pink, green and yellow and a rug in any of those bright shades along with a throw matching your rug.
