In a few years, that patio will either be covered with those vines or it may even be tilted or its foundation lifted or cracked from the roots of that tree. One thing to assess is how the sun travels across your property. In the summer it is higher in the sky. In the winter months, the sun has a lower arc and is more easily blocked by shades or blinds. The summer is when most people will spend the majority of their time on their patio, so plan properly to avoid catching yours at the ‘wrong’ month. Also, keep in mind that your trees will have their leaves during summer and so you will naturally get more shade then anyway. Now matter how you look at it, doing your homework for your covered patio ideas will definitely pay off in the end.
