The first question everyone asks and the biggest concern most customers have is how much do fiberglass swimming pools cost? And as you probably know even before you ask the question the answer is very complicated…
The best analogy is the cost of a car. A car can cost a certain amount say $12,000. But if you want to add in special features such as a leather interior, CD player etc, the price can increase by several thousand dollars. The same is true of a fiberglass pool. A standard pool with no extra features can cost anywhere from around $15,000 up to $30,000. This is a large range in and of itself. Small fiberglass swimming pools cost less than large ones etc.
Other add-ons that people have the options of when purchasing a fiberglass pool include but are not limited to:
Tile along the perimeter about the level of the waterline
Colored pool surface finish
Diving boards
Slides
Handrails
Ladders
Additional Jets
Water Features
Automatic Vacuums
Automatic Covers
Security Features
Water Features
Decorative Decking.
This is by no means a comprehensive list. Keep in mind that the car analogy does break down. People often purchase a new car every 5 years or so, but a pool lasts much longer. Therefore, be sure that you install all of the features that you will want in the future. They are much more difficult to add later.
After determining exactly what you want in your pool, the type of decking, the fencing etc. Be sure that you discuss your expectations in detail with the pool installer. You want to be sure that everything is included in the final price that you are given so there are no surprises half way through the job. If you are installing the pool yourself be sure that you price out the different options, so again you are not surprised half way through the job and end up hiring a professional installer anyway.
