When people are building a new home or going through a remodel on their existing home one of the things that is often overlooked is the outdoor lighting.  Patio lighting is very important and can significantly change the mood and atmosphere around your patio but many people simply install a one bulb basic light fixture and forget about it.  If more people paid attention to the type of patio lighting that they chose, they would get much more enjoyment out of their patio area.

Choosing the right patio light should be thought of as a decorating decision not just choosing a light fixture.  After all, the way you light up an area has a significant impact on the way you will feel in that particular area.  Think of the last time you were in a very  brightly lit area.  You where likely not as comfortable as you would be if you were in an area that had soft lighting in just the right places.  On the flip side of that think of the last time you were in an area that was very dimly lit.  You were likely not comfortable in that area as well.  Your comfort level can be significantly improved if you can take the time to light your patio properly.
