If your dog likes to lounge in the sun and be around the kids who are splashing around in the pool, you might want to consider getting a water proof dog bed. They’re also great if you don’t feel like carting their bed outside every time the family spends the day in the back yard or you don’t want any kind of permanent kennel in the back yard. A water proof bed is also great for boating or if you’re camping and there’s a chance of rain in the forcast. Most of them are made of the same material that your outdoor patio furniture is made of (sometimes called Sunbrella). It wicks away the moisture, drys quickly and keeps the inside of the bed dry so that mold and mildew don’t grow.
One type looks like a typical dog bed, either round or rectangular in shape and another one is raised up off of the ground and looks completely different. The traditional round or rectangular bed could either be made of the outdoor water proof material or it could have a water proof liner on the inside so that the filling is protected. Then if the outside cover gets wet you can at least wash and dry it. Go with a liner if you want to have a fancy design or unusual color cover. The true water proof covers only come in pretty traditional colors and you won’t find much of a selection no matter where you shop.
The raised type (like the Coolaroo Dog Bed) is a platform that’s held up by a frame that could be made of PVC plastic or aluminum. It’s not as much of a soft bed, but it’s up off of the hot ground or cold floor and it’s made of water proof weather resistant material. It’s great if you have a pool deck that gets wet. You can leave it outside too since it’s quick dying and the PVC frame isn’t damaged by sun or bad weather.
in our local pet shop there are lots of dog beds that are made in china. i don’t know if they are of good quality.;;~
